Custom Made Turntables

Rio Tinto

The six-metre 100-tonne turntable used by Rio Tinto in the harsh environment of the Pilbra region at the north of Western Australia has helped the global mining giant save millions of dollars in lost time manoeuvring 100 tonne sizer machines on their way to and from the maintenance facilities. Rio took delivery of the turntable at the end of an 18 month project that saw us design, engineer, manufacture, test and freight to the site. After taking part in a stringent tender process, we won the project against strong competition from a number of companies around the world.

McConnell Dowell

Australian Turntable Company works with a sense of urgency to deliver solutions for critical problems. When contacted by Rio Tino to devise a solution ensuring the safe return of a vehicle from the end of a three kilometre wharf, we had a turntable installed and operating within three weeks. The wharf was too narrow to allow the vehicle to turn around and it was too dangerous to have it make its return journey from the end of the wharf in reverse - especially since the vehicle was transporting construction workers involved in extending the wharf a further three kilometres out to sea. We proved that we were able provide a unit able to withstand extreme conditions without fail within the quickest time frame possible.
